In remembrance of Martin Luther King Day, the social studies classes decorated a cut out of their hand to create a "Hands United as One" door cover, which signifies MLK's dream that everyone be treated fair and as equals. The globe of hands is a reminder that in order to obtain peace, we need to put our hands together instead of apart in order to spread peace throughout our community and throughout the world.

On Friday, March 8th, Nicholas School was able to see a presentation from Mr. Anthony Gibbs.  Mr. Gibbs tells the story of Jon Parker and his life.

His Promised Land: John Parker and the Underground Railroad
John Parker’s life is a story of determination, sacrifice, and extraordinary courage. He was an ex-slave, inventor, entrepreneur, husband and father who risked everything, including his freedom, to help hundreds of slaves through the Ohio Underground Railroad. In this dramatic presentation, John Parker will guide you through some of his most intense experiences. Following the dramatic portrayal, Mr. Gibbs discusses the legacy of John Parker and the Underground Railroad in Ohio.
